The Main Stream Media, France & Israel

Updated 1/17/10

This just sickens me to hear about another UN resolution passed last week (week of Nov. 13, 2006) against Israel.
The resolution passed by a vote of 156 to 7 with six abstentions. Israel, the US, Australia, the Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru and Palau voted against.
France lobbied heavily for this resolution.

Israeli UN ambassador Dan Gillerman had this to say about France: "If France was shelled from across the border, what would the French do? Would the French government send flowers to their attackers?
Well, by voting for this resolution you will be sending flowers to the terrorists, flowers which tomorrow will be laid on the grave of the next Israeli victim."

Part of the problem is the anti-Semitic attitude in France, both real and perceived.
“Two thirds of French people think that anti-Semitism is on the rise in France, despite recently released government statistics illustrating a downturn”.
As quoted in the article: Poll shows French believe in anti-Semitism rise .

Another issue is the Main Stream Media; I was watching the evening news and the way they reported the human shields was ridiculous.
These women are not heroes as the media portrayed them, but terrorists themselves by protecting these cowards who hide behind women and children.

A story about a missile attack on Israel (Nov. 16, 2006) was not even reported on the Main Stream Media outlets.
The town of Sderot is becoming a ghost town as rockets launched by the Palestinians continue to hit Israel.
A 57 year old mother of five became the sixth person in Sderot to be killed by Palestinian rocket attacks. 2 others were wounded, one critically.
This is also why the MSM in this country is out of control, they have portrayed the terrorists as people that if you just leave them alone (in Iraq and elsewhere) and give them Israel, all will be better.
Unfortunately, Evil does not give up that easily.

Of coarse Israel makes mistakes, but if anything Israel was much less heavy handed than usual last summer, which in many experts opinion, is why Israel met with limited success (reminds me off some of the US problems with trying to be too nice in Iraq).

Another reference for more information about the World wide campaign against Israel;

I would caution readers of donating to websites such as defendjerusalem.net which although it is very Pro Israel and "gets it right" in many areas concerning Israel, the author is a person that cannot be corrected and will believe in media lies when it fits his hateful views of certain individuals such as Rush Limbaugh.
Sadly he throws some of his biggest supporters under the bus when hate clouds his thinking process and as someone that has had his family suffer profusely from this exact problem of believing rumors about myself by persons I have helped considerably, I know the damage and evil that comes from this kind of hateful rhetoric.
Please avoid this website like the plague!

Oregon Bottle Bill, Can Recycling Review; Aluminum, Plastic, etc.

Updated 3-15-14

Oregon needs to fix or trash the bottle bill

OVERVIEW OF WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE OREGON RECYCLING LAW (and these are FACTS as I HAVE Worked within the system)
  • It is dirty and unsanitary
  • It is extremely slow and discourages returns
  • It makes it difficult for charities to return and wastes their valuable time
  • It costs stores unnecessary expenses
  • It hurts the less fortunate who attempt to supplement their income with bottle return (if you do not believe my experience, just see the comments of a Grants Pass Safeway manager at the end of the article)
  • It discourages over all recycling by discouraging for profit private recyclers (again a KNOWN FACT from talking with many out of state recyclers AND MY EXPEREINCE as well since I made as much as $800 per month supplementing my income by recycling when I lived in another state)
  • It lessens job opportunities

Oregon’s Bottle bill has become the laughing stock of the recycling industry.
Back in 1993 when (out of necessity) I started recycling cardboard in California, the paper recycler told me that California was thinking of going the way of Oregon, he stated that funny thing was that Oregon and Michigan were the laughing stocks of the industry and that if California went the way of Oregon, they would pull out, even though they did not even handle cans or bottles.

The problem is Oregon’s system pushes out private recyclers (outside of the companies that make the good for nothing redemption machines). Vastly more people are employed by California’s system which also pays scrap value and allows recyclers to profitably pay for paper and other items that here in Grants Pass are useless.

Also there is not the dangerous contamination of dirty cans being placed in shopping carts or handled by store clerks. The retail community, led by the Northwest Grocery Association which rightfully opposes a bottle bill expansion because they say the process can create sanitation problems if fresh food and drippy drink containers share storage space is correct in opposing an expansion.
This system also discourages return due to the very slow, often broken, very fussy machines that can take ½ hour to get back a maximum $7.20 in redemption.
This is also a silly part of the law is this $7.20 limit (although not strictly enforced by many markets if the customer purchases with the store).

We should be able to crush cans a plastic bottles and return via weight versus the often difficult to red UPC codes used by Oregon machines

Oregon either needs a system like California or pure free enterprise, and to stop the arrogance of Oregon leaders (such as the past Oregon Rep., Gordon Anderson) who cannot see past all the problems we have with this dirty, wretched, anti free enterprise system here in Oregon.

Portlandia, Home of hateful persons such as Josh Oliveri, liberal thinkingSADLY though on Jun 9, 2011 – Our dishonest Gov. John Kitzhaber signed a wide-ranging update to the state's 40-year-old bottle bill system so this baffoon of a governor that the electorate in PORTLANDIA put in office has decided to expand this joke of a bottle bill rather than take some "free enterprise" initiative and revamp it totally!

The Oregon legislature brags about the solid waste recycling rate, yet Oregon has a rate of 38% compared to Washington with a rate of 34.82%, a statistical match, yet Washington has NO bottle bill. The point is; The bottle bill kills free enterprise and non-redemption recycling too, such as paper.
Proponents have told me that Oregon pays more than California; NOT TRUE!
Due to the free enterprise system at work in California a $.035 can be worth as much as $.12 after scrap value is added (I am referring to a large beer can here).
Reference: Grants Pass Oregon, Geography, Climate, Events, Police, Fire, Boatnik, more

Also you can smash the cans and plastic, and due to the profitability, you can often bring in paper and cardboard too, as the California system makes profitable for the recyclers to do so. As of this post cans are worth $1.45 per lb. and newspaper is worth $.04 per lb (it adds up fast too).

When I was trying to raise extra money in LA collecting cans, paper, bottles, etc, businesses appreciated it asked me where I had been on the early mornings that I did not do this.
I personally have picked cans, bottles and paper here in Grant Pass to take to California where I could make money and have been heckled with profanity by business owners here in Grants Pass (The 76 station on Rogue River Hwy was one of many), what kind of recycling environment do we really have here? Answer, NONE.

Former Oregon Representative Ben CannonHERE IS A QUOTE FROM A PORTLANDIA OUT OF CONTROL LIBERAL STATE REPRESENTATIVE.
From (Thankfully Former) Representative Ben Cannon in 2011:
"The Bottle Bill is one of the most successful recycling devices ever invented. More containers should be covered and the deposit should increase if recycling rates drop." All I can say is WOW!!!!!
What planet is this liberal joker from????
No buddy, this system has been a joke for years and no the deposit fees should not increase, as in fact California's 3.5 cent redemption works much better without the messes at supermarkets and much more speedy returns (and more)

Of coarse what do you expect from the guy who proposed a 1900% increase in the Oregon beer tax. The proposed hike would have been the single largest tax increase on the brewing industry in the United States history. This would impact an industry that in Oregon provides 5,200 direct jobs and an estimated 10,000 indirect jobs.
WHO ELECTS THESE ANTI-BUSINESS IDIOTS??????????????

UPDATE (Sept 2012):

This bottle law makes even simple returns ridiculous!!!

I have made several attempts to return my cans/bottles at the Downtown Safeway in Grants Pass Oregon, only to be met with broken machines and long lines that can take 30 minutes.
My only recourse is to take my cans/bottle to another supermarket and shop there (wasting gasoline too)

Here is what the manager on duty (a Sunday) told me: We attempt to limit these to the $7.20, but we are in a central location with more returns than sales.

While I cannot argue with his facts; I can with the attitude taken.
For one many charities return volumes of bottle that exceed these limits, as well many of our poor citizens use this as a means of supplementing their income (I know I have when denied Food Stamps a few years back even though I was below the poverty level).
As long as we use this system, more working machines should be available and there should be NO limits.

So much for our so-called enlightened liberal state, but then of course liberals like Rep. Ben Cannon and Gov. John Kitzhaber prove with this bottle bill that they care little for the average person not to mention the businesses that have to administer it, WHAT A JOKE!

Why Iraq?

While I am not Rumsfield’s biggest fan, but there were other reasons to go into Iraq other than WMD. Also it should be noted that while American and British Intelligence screwed up in stating that Saddam still had this WMD program going. The difference is putting some back bone into statements to reveal what he did have.
Do you remember history and “Peace in our time”? Well if someone had more back bone then, maybe 2 million Jews as well as Russians, Poles, Gypsies would still be alive. Not to mention Chinese and Koreans killed by the Japanese. But then removing a man from power who has killed hundreds of thousands of Kurd men, women and children is not worth it either???

Things did not go well in first part of US involvement in WWII. We met some disastrous defeats in North Africa and until Midway it looked quite bleak in the Pacific (unless you count Dewey's raid on Japan, which was more for morale).

Here are a few facts from Iraq:
There are 5 million cell phone users in Iraq where before there were none under Saddam. Iraq has 33,000 new businesses. There is 25% female parliamentary representation, which is the highest in the Arab world. Iraq now has 4500 schools that have been rebuilt and stocked with 8 million textbooks. And there are 150 politically free TV stations and newspapers which can broadcast and print uncensored.

A) Saddam's general published in a book that he himself oversaw loading WMD missiles into aircraft fuselages and shipping them into Syria for hiding.

B) The "insurgents" are absolutely nothing of the sort. They are terrorists, flooding into Iraq from other countries, and sponsored by Syria and Iran. We know this for a fact, as we have their overtaken bodies and equipment.

C) These terrorists ("insurgents") have said in their own statements that the battle for control of Iraq is the decisive battle against the US and western civilization versus Islam, and their plan to destroy the sovereign democratic Jewish state of Israel. Again, this is not supposition, this is from their own direct statements. Why is Katie Couric and the MSM not repeating this nightly?
In these same statements, the terrorists have openly said that this battle is the test of the will of Americans, and that the battle is there because we are there and that *if we retreat, it is their sign of their righteousness and they will then bring the battle to us in the US mainland*.

The Terrorists certainly know weakness when they see it. Here are a few Quotes:

Osama bin Laden: "when people see a strong horse and a weak horse, by nature, they will like the strong horse"
Ayman al-Zawahiri: "The aftermath of the collapse of American power in Vietnam-and how they ran and left their agents-is noteworthy"
Osama bin Laden: ""We have seen in the last decade the decline of American power and the weakness of the American soldier who is ready to wage Cold Wars, but unprepared to fight long wars. This was proven in Beirut in 1983 when the Marines fled after two explosions. It also proves they can run in less than 24 hours, and this was also repeated in Somalia (in 1993).""
Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah: "Regardless of how the world has changed after 11 September, Death to America will remain our reverberating and powerful slogan: Death to America."
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad: "Undoubtedly, I say that this slogan and goal is achievable, and with the support and power of God, we will soon experience a world without the United States"

Hopefully the Republicans will learn from his and other Republicans arrogance. It was definitely time for him to move on and for other Republican leaders to admit mistakes in many policies, including the handling of Iraq, but not for going into Iraq in the first place.

What the Republicans need to do to win back the Congress

This is my opinion what the Republicans need to do to win back the Congress:

Gordon Anderson (R-OR); Good man, however typifies Republican arrogance problems.

• Lose the arrogance.

To often Republican leaders lose touch with little guy, my local State Representative just stepped down, but while in office he had an attitude of arrogance when disagreed with on issues and would attack the source rather than truly discuss the issue. He also really looked down on the youth in our community. Thankfully he is being replaced by a more humble Republican man.

• Image is not everything, in fact it should be number 3 or less:

Often politicians and businesses put image first (real common in our area). Truth should come first; People should come second (or first); Then maybe image (yes image does sell, politically and professionally).
Voters (and consumers) also need to honor those who do put truth and people above image. In my business, I have dropped major accounts do to poor treatment of my employees I have sent out in the field, I also have tried to sell only what I know works based on my testing in my maintenance business. But sadly I see politicians and businesses get rewarded for image and not honesty.

• Stand up for the Truth:

Sadly many politicians will not take a stand for the truth or at least what they believe is right. Joe Lieberman stood his ground against his own party and paid for it in the primary, but not in the general election. I do not agree on the majority of his views, but I have to give him credit here. What happens in my opinion is far left leaning politicians such as Nancy Pelosi get in power when no one Democrat or Republican stands up to them.

• Admit to not always being right:

Unfortunately Republicans are not always right (I sure make mistakes, wish I didn’t). Admit to mistakes.

• You cannot have it all:

This is where the Christian right gets into trouble, they will insist on 100% or nothing, such as no abortion-ever. Start with what you can get, such as a ban on partial birth abortion.
Governor Schwarzenegger is a good example of this, many Republican would not back him do to some more liberal views, but in my opinion, he was vastly better than the alternative.
